The individuals and families we have supported who have chosen to establish temporary or permanent memorials at a crash site describe how important it is for them to mark the last place their loved one was alive. As well as a marker of the tragic event this place can also provide a focus for anniversaries and special days during the year and somewhere for family and friends to gather and remember the person who died. The handling and management of roadside memorials varies from one local authority to another across the UK. In our area of operation the following policies are in place.
